When I started my Human Design journey in 2020, I wasn't really interested in what type of astrology we are using to calculate charts. I was too fascinated with the universal wisdom of the Human Design Body Graph, the 9 Centers, 64 Gates (and Gene Keys) and 36 Channels.
Eventually, as I kept following my authority, I stumbled upon sidereal astrology through one of my students. And then there was no going back for me, I felt such a strong calling into this direction that I could not deny. Eventually, I discovered and studied true sidereal astrology, which is using the actual sizes of the constellations, and includes the forgotten 13th constellation of Ophiuchus. It felt right, it felt so deeply true.
And since astrology calculations are behind the Human Design Chart, this created a change in my birth chart. A chart that taught me so many lessons - of how easily we can get attached to charts AND how we are never fixed, rather ever evolving. All the things that I had tried to fit myself into in my tropical chart started to fall away and I sensed an even deeper alignment with how I truly felt about myself in the core of my being. It felt like coming home, where there is absolutely nothing to fix.
To me True Sidereal is here to help us :
Align with Nature
Be more present in the here and NOW
Have a deeper connection with God/Source/Universe
If you've ever looked at your birth chart and thought, "This doesn't quite feel like me," you're not alone.
Tropical Astrology (the most common system in the West) is based on the seasons and the relationship between the Earth and the Sun. It uses a fixed zodiac that was aligned with the constellations about 2,000 years ago—but due to the Earth's wobble (called precession), the tropical zodiac is about 30 degrees off from where the constellations actually are in the sky today.
True Sidereal Astrology, on the other hand, is based on the actual positions of the constellations in the sky right now. It accounts for precession and reflects what's astronomically accurate—where the planets and stars truly were when you were born.
I'm deeply grateful for Tropical Astrology—it was an important foundation for me and eventually led me to discover True Sidereal. What Tropical gets right is the aspects of the planets—how they relate to each other. To me these relationships remain accurate and powerful.
However, what's off is the actual position in the sky. It's like the zodiac is twisted forward in time by about one full constellation. And here's what fascinates me: I have a theory that this is why our society feels so rushed, always chasing what's next. We're collectively orienting to something that isn't actually up in the sky yet.
When we align with the actual placements—what IS in the sky right now—it brings us back to present moment awareness. It allows us to slow down. To ground into what's real. To trust what's here now rather than always reaching ahead.
Why does this matter for you?
For many people (myself included), the True Sidereal chart feels like coming home.
For example, in my tropical chart, I had an overabundance of air planets. But my True Sidereal chart revealed I'm actually earth-dominant—which completely matches my actual experience of myself.
This is something I hear often from my clients as well. Placements that never quite fit in the tropical chart suddenly fall into place in the True Sidereal version. Things that felt "off" finally make sense. It's like finally seeing an accurate map of who you truly are.
For myself and a growing number of clients, the True Sidereal version simply resonates more deeply. While it can first lead to a sort of "Ego Death" (as many have gotten quite attached to their tropical charts), it eventually validates what we already know about ourselves rather than trying to make us fit into descriptions that don't land.
This is why I use True Sidereal Astrology in my Human Design & Gene Keys sessions and throughout my work. Because when you see yourself reflected accurately in your chart—grounded in what's real and present—that's when the real transformation begins, and there is really no going back.
